Pilates for Golf
David Duval, Annika Sorensen and Tiger Woods all do it ... pilates, of course!
Golf is now the fastest growing sport in the UK, and pilates can help you get the most out of your game and avoid injury, such as back pain, and elbow and wrist complaints.
Pilates exercises that specifically target the golfer's requirements will provide results very quickly, and require less repetitions than most other exercise techniques, so you will soon see the benefits.
Pilates can ...
- strengthen the deep postural muscles (the core) enabling you to swing from a powerful and steady base
- improve stability in pelvis and shoulder girdle
- develop flexibility, mobility and co-ordination
- create and encourage symmetry in the body, thus balancing golf's 'one-sidedness'
With regular pilates practise, you will experience a stronger swing with less effort, improved endurance and a faster game, hitting the ball further, straighter and with greater accuracy.
Pilates for Riders
Courses will focus on the particular needs of horse-riders, using Pilates exercises that will help develop Core strength, good posture and muscle flexibility. Individual tuition is also available.
The benefits to you as a rider are clear and obvious, whether your interest is in hacking, eventing, show-jumping, dressage, hunting ...
Pilates can ...
- help you develop a strong, stable core, using the correct mucles to maintain balance and a deep seat in the saddle.
- encourage free and independent movement of the limbs, without disturbing the stable core.
- increase your body awareness, and allow you to relax into the horses movements, so that you and the horse are working together, as one, and not against each other.
With regular practice, you will find you are able to ride for longer, in greater comfort and with more focus. Your increased confidence and self-awareness will, of course, be shared with your horse, thus enhancing the horse-rider relationship and improving the horseriding experience for both of you.
Pilates really does translate well into the saddle!
